Chris, Ober Nautiker, (and later he was a Haupt Nautiker) is it likely he was a navigation specialist in the civilian airline industry prior to the war? or was it a Luftwaffe specialist entity in its own right?

Hi Richard

RL2III/1174 was the sign of the loss list of GQM -Generalquartiermeister- (I don't know the british reference word) in RLM, and 261 was the page of this loss report.
