Yes, I know with regard to the circular route, but my research stems from before 2007 and some of the information is becoming rusty in my mind. I have to look it up each time by now and some facts gets lost then in trying to explain what I mean.
You have a point there about the decal sheets, but there is not much that we can do. This will go on forever I presume.

No, the aircrafts number is not known - only that it came from the G9+EF, the aircraft in which he flew from July 1945 until February 1945.

Re: Schnaufer's last Bf 110

Thanks Wim

No I wasn't expecting a WNr to pop up these days so what I ment was if you could confirm the code, which you just did!

Thank you very much!!

Cheers

Hi Wim,
This comment makes me uneasy. G9+DX (later repainted as 3C+BA) was equipped with FuG218, does this mean that the shot up 3C+BA was equipped with FuG220?

Hi Marcel,
Retaining the old Geschw. code might have been the case and acceptable for a very short while, but not in the long run. Reporting would have become a nightmare, if there were two a/c with the same identity. Further I have a number of photos of all black (i.e. early) Bf110 with the 3C code.
And since Schnaufer had G9+DX repainted, he also was not satisfied with surrendering his mount wth an incorrect code.

Hi SES, that is one detail of which I have no clue. I only can confirm that Schnaufer wanted another aircraft, with another radar configuration, which turned out to be G9+DX with the FuG218.
