Re: Damaged plain in Larissa airfield

Dear friends,

this is a nice summary Boris, thx.

But what do we have now? what is our conclusion? Larissa, Salonika, Kozani, Lamia, Korinth, ... the moon??

We have to try more, me as a local in the first place

Re: Damaged plain in Larissa airfield

I'd say it is Kozani, both because of the signature on the back of one of the photos, but more so because of the GQM entry, provided by Merlin.

Cheers,
Boris

Re: Damaged plain in Larissa airfield

It`s probably Kozani Boris but difficult to be 100% sure of it. There were 3 airfields there, 1) Karpero Kozani (800x700 m), 2) Petrana Kozani (Tsifliki) and 3) Servia Kozani (900x800 m).

I sow the loss on the 16th April 1941 in the GQM entry, it is without Kenn-Nr., that means uncertainty.
16.04.41 Do 17 Z (W.Nr. 3326) 30% Bauchlandung Kozani

The signature on the back? We have more then this location.

There is still a lot to research about the physical environment of ~140 Greek airfields during the war in order to make the recognition easier. Many of them are farmland today.
I`m trying.

Re: Damaged plain in Larissa airfield

It's sure for 150 % near Petrana Kozani. Go on Google street view on this position: 40.286196 N, 21.824401 E (it's an little crossing of two sand ways in the west of the airfield, then have an look to West and you see the same mountains like in the pictures).

Greetings Rasmussen

Well, after so many photos of this plane, it was about time to solve this out, through major joint effort, like in the old times of TOCH
