Re: Seeking photos of 5./KG55 He111P G1+FN FL Belgium on 13.05.40

Chris,

Thanx. Great photos, but this a/c looks like it has wooden prop blades that have broken away. I think that these were not used in 1940, and don't look like the props in the photo of the plane in the Gillet book, which I think were metal. I think that this is likely to be an a/c after the EoE period, but 1941 or later. Can anyone confirm that the wooden props were not used until after 1940?

I'd like to see the other photo, if you would send that directly to me by email.

Larry,
With wooden props and temporary night camouflage applied all over the lower areas I believe the photos Chris kindly posted is not from May 1940 but rather from the later night Blitz period. According to Janowicz, Heinkel He111, Kagero, Vol.1, p.51, the wooden Junkers-Hamilton HPC three-bladed prop was introduced with the He111H-6 which was introduced only in 1941, I believe.

Nothing ventured nothing gained. Thank you Goran for the info on the prop blades... very useful ID tool.
