Re: George-Peter Eder
Hi Franek,
I'm sorry, but I think Michal GLADYCH served with the RAF ... in 303 Sqdn, from 1941 to 1943 : Flying Spitfire, he shot down 6 e/a, 2 probable and one shared. Besides, in 1940, he flew with GCI/145, 2nd "escadrille" ... the sole Polish "Groupe de Chasse" in the French "Armée de l'Air". His rank, in the French Airforce, was "sous-lieutenant". Early in 1944 he obtained a posting to the US 56th FG, and - flying P 47 - he claimed 10 e/a ... including a Me 109 close to my village of France. It is said, too, Michal GLADYCH got other victories ... he never claimed ? what's your opinion ? Amicalement Pierre Pierre |

Re: George-Peter Eder
Gents
Polish formations in France and UK were Polish ones, paid by Polish goverment. They were not Polish manned AdA or RAF units. In case of Britain, it was specially prepared a law allowing foreign troops (Polish) to be based on British soil! Thus said, Gładych was always a member of Polish AF, even when send for a stage to 61 FS. His further status is unclear though. About his victories - indeed there are plenties of stories but I cannot say how much truth is in them. |
