Ergänzungsgruppe/JG 2 on 17 July 1941

The relevant Die Jagdfliegerverbände der Deutschen Luftwaffe 1934 bis 1945 volume lists Leutnant Wolfgang Flügel of Ergänzungsgruppe/JG 2 as missing in Bf 109 E-7 following aerial combat north of Cherbourg. The only other loss given is that of Bf 109 E-4 (W.Nr. 2800) damaged in a crash-landing at Cazeaux. The pilot of this aircraft is unknown. I hope this helps. Horrido! In the Gen.Qu. loss report from 19 July 1941 No.104 - a primary source - is listed:
17.7. Erg.Gr./JG 2 kein Feindflug, Ort: Cazeaux, Ursache: Bruchlandung, Klassifizierung: 23 = Beschädigung bei Ausbildungs- und sonstigem Flug ohne Feindauftrag. Bf 109 E-4 (not E-7!) 2800 25%, Ersatz erforderlich. Regards Leo
