Re: Ju 88G-1 lost December 1944

I suppose that the Wn 714814, comes from the picture ??? So we hv to concentrate on losses with unknown Wn, probably only a little dozen

Yes, number is 100% clear in picture. Must be area around Aldenhoven - Alsdorf as other two crashsites (pictures too) were also in that area.

John

Remi,

do you have a list of candidate losses without a werknummer? Maybe we can deduct from that list and find a likely candidate based on crew names and or initial grave locations.

Thanks,

John

Re: Ju 88G-1 lost December 1944

Hi John,

I'm not sure how I missed this...

ADI(K) Report No. 50/1945 and A.I.K. (3) List No. 434 (B) have:

Ju88G-1 4R+KN of 5./NJG2 crashed near Palenberg, N. of Aachen, at 01:05 hrs on 1st January 1945. Crew baled out at a height of 200 metres after being hit by light AAA.

Pilot ... Unteroffizier Franz SCHULTE – Uninjured
W/T ... Gefreiter Johannes MÜLLNER – Uninjured
B/M ... Unteroffizier – SPELTHAHN – Injured

This appears to be a loss for which there is no Namentliche Verlustemeldung or entry in the Gen.Genst.Qu.6.Abt, returns...hence no W.Nr. is known.

Cheers

Rod
