I was outbid by only 50 odd pence on the Hs 129 book. But I am semi-glad I was... I didn't actually want to pay more than 50 quid for it, but I felt I had to have a go at it If I'd won, I'd be happy too of course!

Ed, seriously though... a tank photo...? It doesn't even have wings!

Dénes, I have your MBI title on the Hs 129 and really enjoy it. I will definitely keep a lookout for this one.
A bit of self-promotion doesn't hurt. We all need to make a living afterall...
O look below... in my signature... prints for sale!

True but unfortunately making a living really gets in the way of writing books!

Right, this tank is one of the rarest vehicles which was ever built.
And this photo is very great, I don't know an other photo of a
"Sturer Emil" in this quality. Last week we had a very rare photo
of an Italic "Swordfish", the auction ended with 920 Eur. Any questions?

I remember a discussion about a Polish a/c, it was the first known
photo of a prototyp. But 1 or 2 month later, the photo was published
in both leading Polish aviation magazines. It was the 1000 Eur worth too.

Sometimes you have to bid some funds more to make such photos
visible for all enthusiasts. That's all. I'm still wondering that always
some people are horrified when they see such expensive photos.
We all will be happy when we'll see these photos in publications later.
Or do you want that every photo will be lost for years in the archive
of a well known ebay member?

Red face Re: Ebay madness...

Hi Friends
I have often the sames problèms with E.Bay.Pic
For my Local work about Tavaux Airfield 2/3 years ago i have a chance to found on E.Bay one picture where we can see one Leo destroyed by french troops in 1940 before German advance, behind we see Solvay Factory ...
http://www.histavia21.net/LIEUX-HIST...oTavaux004.JPG
After one moment, perhaps 2/3 months i can obtain one other similar from one other man :
http://www.histavia21.net/LIEUX-HIST...avaux-002b.JPG
One year after I bid for one 3° pictures for the same plane taken by one other side, me interseting essentially for zoom and see the country toward and behind the aircraft .
No chance I bid 50€ an Mr Suddek was on my road, i missed it and Tavaux History too !!!
Last year, i obtain nice contact with one generous collector Ebayer who accept to let me publish one other pic for allways the same plane,
with germans soldiers toward :
http://www.histavia21.net/LIEUX-HIST...aux_Oller2.jpg
I don't see myself this pic on E.Bay, but with the generosity from our friend, this picture return with the other in Tavaux History and all can see it !!!
Perhaps you never can see the "sudd" pic ...

Last day :i see one lot of 6 pictures from KG55 from Dijon !!! i'm affraid Ed West make publicity for this lot and i'm affraid Suddek arrive ...
but return of chance i make him Outbid ! but for me the price it's really really expansive (more 100 €)
http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1
For this lot, my interest is because it's the end of one long long history for the bombing Dijon by Germans's, i have bought on E.Bay nombrous pictures where who can see the relics (Potez, Bloch and D.500) in "Dubois Hangar" .
You can see it in this page :
http://www.histavia21.net/LIEUX-HIST.../LONG-0006.htm
We can see on my pictures at the end Dubois Hangar was empty and washed, but we don't know where are the relics,
With this last lot of pic, we know now the MB relic and Some potez parts are in storage in one other Hangar in Base North .
So i's a chance for me (and all) the people interesting by Dijon Base story to see these pictures together, and have comprehension of what's happening .
If i cannot obtain this pics and outbid Sudd, me ( an i hope prochainly you )never can see and share this pictures in 1280x1024 Pixel.
It's better i think if all the pictures from the War and from the history are free for all, searchers can assembling the puzzles, and make narration, peoples can see his history .
Some pictures who go in private collections are often loss for all ...
But sometimes the price it's too hard , just to have regrets
Live is not a long quiet river ...

Best Regards, dan

Re: Ebay madness...

Hello Skyraider,

Here is a comic book, of all things, that recently sold:

http://cgi.ebay.com/AMAZING-FANTASY-...QQcmdZViewItem

I honestly hope photos of German vehicles never reach this number, but honestly! If people want me to wait after an auction ends for me to put up a link, let me know.

And one other thing, if it wasn't for Ebay, some of what we're seeing would have ended up in the dustbin.

Ed

Re: Ebay madness...

I understand what you guys are saying, but if people all want to publish it, it becomes public domain regardless what price. So then you can let one guy have it at a cheaper price and wait for it to appear
Or is it a matter of outbidding Sudek so it doesn't all vanish in his black hole? Anybody knows what's he doing with all this stuff?

Re: Ebay madness...

Really crazy how much some guys pay for their interests. For those of you who still search the Hs 129 book: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=4645127016

I was so lucky to get the JV 44 and Hs 129 about 1 month ago. Prize was 80€ each (about 100 USD, 55 GBP).

Cheers, Simon
