Ju 88 Lost off Stampalia 31 Jan 44
The Beaufighters of 252 Sqn claimed to have destroyed a Ju 88 at this location in the afternoon of 31 Jan 44 during which one of the Beaufighters was shot down. Any ideas as to the Ju 88? Possibly 11./ZG 26 as a pilot from this unit was the only claimant for a Beaufighter this day in the right location at the right time

Thanks Matti. The BF was posthumously credited with shooting down the Beaufighter

Chris
Just curious who really was credited with this victory. In post 1 you say the pilot but in post 3 you say the BF.... ![]() B Rgds Stig |

Re: Ju 88 Lost off Stampalia 31 Jan 44
I thought it was a pilot as the RAF crews reported no return fire. Hence Uffz Stoll was not the pilot but BF

Re: Ju 88 Lost off Stampalia 31 Jan 44
Hello guys
The fact that one of the Beauf. managed to reach Turkey does not deny that a victory (a little too optmist) has been claimed by a Bf.109,and that the other Beauf. was (by 11/ZG26) and also claimed by a Bf.109 (the same?) A TRACK TO FOLLOW,PERHAPS,AND TO DEEPEN. It seems ,that 2 Unteroffiziere of 7/JG27 (Paul Martin),and 8/JG27 (Rudolf Muras),then based in Greece and Crete, claimed victories of wich the moment nothing is known. Paul Martin=2 Rudolf Muras=6 OK,it's "risky" to deduce that 2 of their unknown "abschusse" are that day.....BUT? Michel |
