Spitfire losses - Correction

Sorry - I wrote this:

Franks gives a list of 9 Spitfires (74, 92, 54 Sqns) and 9 Hurricanes shot down that day in the same area - some by Me 110s, the rest by 109s.

Correction: 7 not 9 Spitfires on 23 May.

I hadn't noticed that the last two above-mentioned Spits were lost, as well as a 3rd one, on 24 not on 23 May. So three Spits were lost in the area on 24 May.

The first ones lost over France (apart from possible PR Spits) were lost on the previous day, 22 May (one over Britain after a patrol in the Calais area because of some engine trouble - after combat or not).

And so it went on with 4 Spits and 2 Hurric. on 25 May, etc.

Thanks Chris.. I was hoping to learn a bit about the man, like where he lived after the war?

Re: The opponents of Gert Framm, JG 27

His letters are stored away somewhere (if indeed I kept them) so without a massive search, I cannot easily say where he lived

I was in touch with Framm in 1991. He had very little and not much to say

Hi Chris Goss,
Any details on your contact with Gert Framm?
Where he was living? Family? Contact information?
I very much doubt if he was still around, but I’d like to make contact with his family..
My email is

Re: The opponents of Gert Framm, JG 27

Does anyone have a figure for how many times 107 RAF went through its complement of flyers? My uncle's 9. JG3 also had a high claiming day in July 1940 against this unit.
