Re: Syrian Campaign - 260/450 Sqdn - Straffing Mission over Talia
Jerome
The 450/260 Sqn ORB is available online as a digital copy from the Australian National Archive. Just open the link in either Laurent Rizzotti's list of ORB's in this forum or click on the link in my earlier post; you'll have to register to be able to log-on, but once you've done this you will be able to look at the 450/260 ORB (all 132 pages, though the Syria incidents are in the early pages). As for the 208 Sqn incident; that sqn's ORB doesn't appear to be available online, so you would have to visit the TNA at Kew whre it is held as a microflim in the AIR27 series. The RAF/RAAF ORB's can be of different standards (depending on how keen the copiler was), but are normally a good source of initial data. Hope this helps, Regards Steve Pegge |

Re: Syrian Campaign - 260/450 Sqdn - Straffing Mission over Talia
Hi Alex
Flt Sgt Tom Hindle, commissioned March 1942, and flight commander by May 1942 when killed in action by Bf109 of III/JG53 on 31/5/42. Credited with three Bf109s (one on 3/4/42; either Ltn Kugelbauer of I/JG27 or Ltn Jenisch of II/JG27 on 25/4/42; and Fw Gromotka of Stab/JG27 on 21/5/42), a Bf109 probable and a MC202 probable, plus one of each type damaged. Quite a successful pilot in a short period of time. Cheers Brian |
