Re: Photo Albatros D.III

Clint I reversed the photo. it looks like D2285/16; markings may be Jasta 21.

Re: Photo Albatros D.III

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the photo work. I'm happy to go with your serial number and Jasta 21 looks very plausible.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photo Albatros D.III

Hi Clint. Could it be Lothar v. R. (yellow nose) ? Allmenroder's had a more visible fuselage cross under the thin dope. Not sure though.

On the subject of Albatrosses ("Albatrosen" ?) I thought you and Stig would like these on P.5 .

Re: Photo Albatros D.III

Nick,

I think the jury is still out on the identity of the D.III in my link. Have you either a photo or a profile of LvR's machine that you had in minf?

Thanks also for the nice photo of the Kest 1b machines. As you sometimes visit the Aerodrome I assume you're probably aware that Jos is posting currently on Kest 1b in his ongoing series of postings on the Kests. Hopefully more photos will be forthcoming. For those who may be unaware ofthe posts they can be found here

Re: Photo Albatros D.III

Sorry Clint I was just going by the shade of nose colour ie. not white, blue, green or black. If only they had colour film. Wonder why it's got "Eindecker" on the back? Incidentally your previous D.III with moon-and-pipe seems to have a very similar emblem to that on Hans von Buttlar's Pfalz (Jasta 18) (there's an overpainted swastika below it). His other Pfalz had a hunting horn, part of his family crest.
I appreciate the reminder on The Aerodrome, afraid not visited often as my main headache is the USAAF. I must admit most of my models in past times were WW1, remember the old Merit/ SMER/ Aurora 1:48th ?

Thanks
Nick

Re: Photo Albatros D.III

Hello,

Currently on ebay is an interestingly marked Albatros D.III (OAW) captioned as being flown by an Uffz Schrammer. I don't suppose any one is aware of the unit involved?
