Re: Origin of 2 Bücker Bu-181 Bestmann's

Hello all,
Post #7 – The second Typenschild shows Hersteller code JAR and not JAG as originally stated. JAR = Hirth Motoren GmbH, Flugmotorenbau ab 1943 übernommen von: Ernst Heinkel AG, Werk Waltersdorf, bei Berlin-Schönefeld [BRB].
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin

Re: Origin of 2 Bücker Bu-181 Bestmann's

Hello again,
Post #7 – It appears that the second Typenschild is from a Hirth-Motoren-built HM 500 B-1, Motornummer 012 1077 as fitted to a Bü 181. This MNr. fits nicely into others in my files.
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin

Re: Origin of 2 Bücker Bu-181 Bestmann's

@Merlin, S Sheflin and richdlc,

Many thanks for your contributions. This is a great start and indeed confirms this is a German Bu-181 and not a post war license built aircraft. This would make a possible restauration project certainly more interesting and viable.

I have asked my friend to send a photo from the other frame. (might take a while since they are not stored near his home)

Thanks for now!

Re: Origin of 2 Bücker Bu-181 Bestmann's

Just a short note, the Bü 181 was built on license in Sweden too. And the engines used in Sweden were imported from Germany so finding an engine plate from a German engine does not confirm that the aircraft itself was built in Germany.
