According to Spitfire Pilot by F/L Crook the German pilot just managed to open his chute in time and lay on the ground winded . F/O Nowierski flew over him and said later '' I circle round, bloody German lies down he is dead O.K. But I look again he is now sitting up, no bloody good ''. Is this what you meant Franek when you said it spoilt Novi's good mood,
