Re: 414. squadron RCAF

Hi all,
I return to my older asks.

There are not posibble oponents for 414. squadron in dates above?

I am interested mainly for 21.9.1944 (D.I.Hall claimed Fw 190 destroyed over Nijmegen area), 24.12.1944 (F/Lt Sawers claimed 3-0-2 Bf 109, D.I.Hall claimed 2-0-0 Bf 109) and 2.5.1945 (F/Lt D.I.Hall claimed 3-0-1 Fw190 and 1-0-1 Bf 108).

I have not luck in my search

On 24.12.1944 Sawers or Hall maybe fought with IV/JG 27, but I am not sure.

Thank for yours answers!
Regards!
Michal

About Hills - Calrke engagment is some info there - http://www.rcaf.com/archives/archive...ngs_dieppe.htm

With what wrote Steve and from Caldwell´s book about JG 26 , its appear, that Zink damaged Clarke´s Mustang and Ofw. Kruska (6./JG 26) hit next Mustang from 414. squadron - AG601, P/O C. H. Stover, which hit a pole evading FW 190 and belly landed at base.
And I expected, that concrete opponent form Hills battle was not known, but what if it chanced that yes

But I have one more quastion.
On 6.6.1943 was shot down F/O Doherty (Mustang AP172) south of Scilly Isles by FW 190 of 8./JG 2 (from Foreman´s FC war diary) But in Tony Woods claims list are not any claims on 6.6. 1943 - http://www.lesbutler.ip3.co.uk/tony/tonywood.htm

Once again thanks for yours answers!

Michal, the information re the activity at Dieppe and P/O Stover isn't quite correct. The claim of a hit by FW190 is questionalble and the aircraft did not belly land. The logbook for Aug 19 indicates " with F/L Horncastle - 1 FW190 sighted-hit reinforced concrete pole in France- severed 2 1/2 feet of starboard wing and aileron- nose up on landing -all ok - AP601"
I recall my dad talking about this incident and he remarked that he had to come in hot to prevent the drag from wounded wing creating additional problems. The hot landing and extra braking put it up on its nose. Have pictures to confirm.
Compliments to everyone on 414 remarks. It is adding alot ot the squadron history known so far.
