Re: Soviet balloon

Hello again,

The only shared ballon claimed by Finnish Fiat G.50s was claimed between Lauri Lautamäki (FA-6) (http://surfcity.kund.dalnet.se/finland_lautamaki.htm) and P. Saarni (FA-1) over Kylätjatko, Kannas, on 1 November 1941.

Best wishes/Håkan

Yes, the tail in the photo is that of FA-1, which was Lt, later Capt., Olli Puhakka's plane.

Re: Soviet balloon

On this images could be seen pilot Bruun posing. Initially marked as SA-1.

Re: Soviet balloon

Hello Srecko
I'm well aware that You knew the plane and probably also Håkan, but maybe some who read this tread don't, that was the reason for my last message. And yes the last victory marking in the rudder is that of Carl-Erik Bruun's only victory.

I have a copy of Model Aircraft Monthly July 2007 and the main reason for buying it was Your article. It looks very interesting but regretably I haven't had time to read it yet.

Cheers
Juha

Re: Soviet balloon

A clarification
FA-1 was at the time of the photo Puhakka's ex-plane, Puhakka was transferred away from LeLv 26 on Nov 7, 1941. He came back on June 5, 1942, but then he began to fly in FA-25. Strangely Puhakka's July 20, 1941 victory, also got while flying FA-1, I-153 from 65 ShAP, was not painted on the rudder.

Re: Soviet balloon

Hi Juha,

sorry for delayed answer- I was on vacation. Glad that you have interest in my last article published but this is just extract from the total amount of material I have about the subject... maybe book one day but who know

I am not sure but later it was repainted? In the moment not all of my notes are here- I was replaced hard drive and many material stay on the old one...

Thank you for comments and info

Re: Soviet balloon

Hello Srecko
Hopefully You had a fine vacation. And thank you, I have known the photo for years but because of this tread I looked it first time for years carefully and was surprised when I noticed that 20.7.41 victory wasn't painted on the rudder. Olli was a distant relative of mine.

Cheers
Juha

Re: Soviet balloon

Yes- that was fine vacation but not rest at all I was going deep into the mountain and in this nowhere place I met former commander of MiG-21 wing. He was flying this airplane from version f up to bis and have much of material in own collection. As you see, even if I try to escape aviation I get again something.

Well- this conversation going off topic now so better to close and maybe continue in PM.

Best regards to all
