Re: Photo Nieuport
My initial reaction was Ni 2297
Unfortunately I think both are equally valid for a Macchi produced aircraft, even if my own notes has a blank for both numbers.... Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo Nieuport
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a nice photo predominantly of Army Type Ko 3 aircraft, though the aircraft to the left looks more like a Nieuport 16: https://www.ebay.com/itm/20376662241...MAAOSwl15hxGPi Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo Nieuport
Lovely photo Clint
With regard to the aircraft on the left, it seems to have the cowling of a Nakajima Ko-2. It certainly has the same fin as the other Ko-3 visible. No idea how interchangeable such items were. Could the cowling of a standard Ko-3 perhaps be split up? Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo Nieuport
Hi Stig. The KO-2 was a Nieuport 83E.2 2-seater ; I think a few KO-3s may have been re-engined with what was available. This photo is the training base at Tokorozawa with KO-2s in the front and looks like a couple of Nieuport single-seaters at the back with old cowlings (as on the Nie. 83s).
The photo is dated 1925. Regards Nick https://british-eevee.tumblr.com/image/182889945534 |

Re: Photo Nieuport
Hi Nick
Yes I know what the Ko-2 was. Looked at Kees photo and to be honest how do you see the difference between a Ko-1 and a Ko-2 (Type 81 vs Type 83)? I suppose it is possible they re-engined some Ko-3, but I have not come across any such specific information. Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo Nieuport
Sorry Stig I didn't suggest you didn't know what a KO-2 was !
I know these Nieuports can be confusing but I'm sure the KO-2 / Nie.83 had a single cockpit (as here) rather than 2, also a shorter span. I think I'll stick to the USAAF....... Regards Nick |

Re: Photo Nieuport
No worries Nick
It was just an information statement.... Again I confess the tiny details of the Nieuport aircraft is beyond my grasp. I suppose what I need is a photo from all angles with both types standing side by side.... Happy New Year BTW Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo Nieuport
He, he Clint
How do you nail this one so specifically as being a Nieuport 24bis? Since I have already stated I am lousy with all those look-a-like models, I am just curious.... Cheers Stig |
