Andy
The visible codes on these aircraft are not their No.
Code 7 was for instance No 23
Code 10 was No 11
I have no corresponding No for code 13

There is an extremely expensive book published about the Caudron fighters, but so far I cannot afford it.
Too much else I need to buy instead.
After all the CR.714 was a very minor type and achieved very little.

Cheers
Stig

Re: eBay: Allied intrest

Thanks Bertrand

Does the author also give the second Caudron c/n No?
I notice you (he) only seems to identify them by the company's main c/n line.

Cheers

Stig

A similar photo is page 271 from L to R : n° 7-10-13

their c/n are those given above and written like that by the specialist B. Belcarz

Re: eBay: Allied intrest

I see

As you are no doubt aware there are two "schools" in France

One claims the production aircraft were
c/n 8533/1 to 8616/84 (Mihaly/Robinson + Internet site)
and the other
c/n 8533/2 to 8616/85 (Hauet)

The "Ghost in the Machinery" is of course the prototype c/n 7875/01 and the "million dollar question"
was 01 followed by No 1 or No 2?

Pity Belcarz does not want to choose side. That itself makes me actually less interested in his book.

Cheers
Stig

7 was the code of the aircraft in the unit, not the c/n.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest

Hi Ed,

Nice find with that second photo. A Fleet Air Arm Skua, L3048 'B', of 803 Squadron. It was force-landed intact in Norway on 25 April 1940, but later destroyed.
There are other photos of it, but I have not seen this one before. Note that 'Oslo' is printed on the back of the photo.

Regards,

Martin Gleeson.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest

Hi Martin,

I had faint hope that this aircraft would be identified with just the letter B. Thank you for the additional information.

Best,
Ed
