Hi Ed, I must thank you once again for your posting of Flugbuchs. Sometimes they lead to interesting mysteries. Item #20 in post #2192 above is that of a pilot named Ernst Büchner who was an unteroffizier in 1941 and later a feldwebel. From the second last sample page, it appears that he was employed from November 1944 to January 1945 in transferring Fw 190s from Oshersleben to Zerbst although "Airflelds of the Luftwaffe" does not list any operational or training unit at Zerbst for that time. For me the interesting entry is on the last page. He made two "einfluge" in a "turbo", the seller presumes a Me 262, on 8 April 1945 at Zerbst. "Airfields of the Luftwaffe" lists I./KG(J) 54 as being operational at Zerbst March/April 1945. To my eye the Werknummer is "0081". Dan O'Connell in "Me 262 Production Log", (2005), p.162 has no listing for Werknummer 500081, but on p. 58: "170081 Call sign KP+OL. Me 262 A-1a. While serving with I./KGJ) 54, this jet was strafed at Giebelstadt on 20 February 1945, and was 40 per cent damaged." Thank you again, Jim |

Re: eBay: German intrest
Hello everyone,
Post #2192, #20 – The attached photo from the Flugbuch of Ernst Büchner is of particular interest to me because it seemingly contains a series of AGO-built, late-production, Fw 190 A-8s from the 739xxx series. However, possibly because of my aged eyes, I am having a difficult time with many of these Werknummern. Has someone with younger eyes been able to transcribe these entries? Respectfully, Steve Sheflin |

Re: eBay: German intrest
Since ouidjat's request on the 24th has not been answered, here is my take. The Ju 88 with V1 on nose is definitely an early prototype, probably V1 after it's rebuild. However, I am am sitting hospice several hundred miles from any reference material. When I return home, will do a photo comparison and confirm this ID. There is a second Ju 88 in the album and 6204 would appear to be a possibly correct W.Nr. f.or that a/c.
Best Regards ArtieBob |
