Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

No, that’s the same Ju 88 C-6 of which I published a photo in my Captured Eagle book together with a color profile from Simon Schatz. I wonder where these photos were taken.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Thank you Roger.

Something more serious: Out of interest I bought the picture in post #2581, a BV138 on a lake/ river after the sourrender. Text on the backside: "Germany, Hersfeld, 1945". As I see on google maps, Hersfeld is in Central Germany/Northern Hessen, and there's the river "Fulda". Seen from the air, it seems almost impossible to me to land a BV138 there.
Can anyone confirm the spot or the landing?
Best regards
Harry

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Roger,
The Fw 200 from the same set of photos as your Ju 88 looks like D-AARB "Rheinland" which was supposedly captured at Pocking. So this might be the location of the airfield (even though the photos above are very blurry, so I might be totally wrong here).

Cheers,
Christian

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Hi Christian,

Thank you. There is now a new photo listed that clearly shows 'Lufthansa' and the Lufthansa emblem on the fuselage. It looks as if this is indeed D-AARB.

Cheers,
Roger
