Post 2942: Sud-Ouest SO.4000 M.1 on top of a He 274 after the war. Rare shots.

However I have never seen/heard that the SNCASO M.1 glider was ever called S.O.4000. That was the full scale bomber. Rare shots? Well there are plenty of photos of the combination (I even have one) both on the ground and in the air. Cheers Stig |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
You are probably right Stig. I am no expert of post war French aircraft, but Wikipedia was the “expert” consulted me. Thanks for correcting. I have never seen this combination before and therefor assumed the photos to be rare, but being mainly interested in the 1944/45 period, I probably never checked the right books where photos have been published of these aircraft.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
I should point out that the level of knowledge here varies from person to person. If this sort of research is to continue and draw in new people, that basic fact should be kept in mind. It took me a long time to acquire the knowledge to interpret abbreviations, for example. Referring to the above two photos, they are new to me as well, or I may have seen something similar but long ago.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Wikipedia in English is cristal clear and makes the difference between the M-1 glider and the SO 4000.
The second pont being it has been published times ago - during the 70s at least - in "le Fanatique de l'Aviation" and elsewhere for sure more recently. But well, I'm French and I know it, indeed. As for the pics .. Google photos is full of the composite He274/M-1. Regards, Franck. |
