Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

If the two ladies in the first photo are at the site shortly after the crash their clothing suggests a warm time of the year.

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

Photos of crash appear to me to have been taken after scrapping and cannibalizing begun (note portions of horizontal tail cut out). Photos might then be taken long after (spring, summer or autumn 1944 - 1946 ?) I can not tell but shurely there is warm even in late autumn in central France!

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

Better examination of photo 2 provided by Jean-Paul on Picasa Albums, I now perhaps think small 1H (of KG 26) maybe is visible.

Left side of fuselage shows remains of overpainted Stkz. but smack in middle of this (aft of wing) there maybe is smaller letters (in black) which could be unit code. I now wonder now if this was perhaps A-4 / A-17 ´3084 (i.e. 823084).

Maybe member Chris Goss could look for us in his NVM documents?

Aircaft almost certainly is A-4 and Jumo 211 F/J engines (and 330xxx series only came in Summer 1944, besides A-7 crashed in different part of Europe).
Realize that Ed. Just putting the WNr. 3084 stuff out there to reinforce what you guys have been saying. Jim P.

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

Ok Jim. Just thought some misunderstanding had developed.

Now, this A-4 ´3084´ (or A-4 / A-17 823084 ?) is still unsolved but II/KG 26 is beeing investigated (i.e. transit flights around 26 July 44?) Has anyone got pictures of some tails or whole a/c from this unit, whilst based at Montelimar or Tavaux? What interests me most is colour of number, apparently RLM Grey or Dark Yellow (definately darker than White).

RT is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

823084 seems to me the strongest contender, for all excel. reasons given by Ed, camouflage... 823085 in aug.44 i. Metz with 2.Fl.div., in Blankensee in November 1944.

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

Bonsoir,
For edNorth: crashplace: 45°08'05'' N and 2°33'24''E .
That surely not was a war mission because it transported a lot of bar of chocolate !!! weapons and munitions.
I am waiting J-B LEDYS' news informations.

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

Hi, JPB6311

Have found a photo of Ju 88 A-4 sister ship (823082 VG+TL) and it has only the four letters ´3082´ in Grey on the fin tip. Photo is not that clear so one can see if it is in Stensil type lettering (like 3084). But, Yes, possibly it was transit or transport flight but then another thing emerges. Ju 88 A-4 823084 was only flying from about December 1943 so most likely dates for photos are in spring or summer 1944 onwards. Possibly it had been converted to A-17 Torpedo Bomber but I have no info yet on that.

Re: Ju88 Wk nbr 3084

Good afternoon,
I have had some news but nothing whitch can make progress in the identification.
Parachutes have been recover in a wood near crashplace in 1946 and wreck démolish the same year..
That's all. I am agree for date, s.n. :823084 and probably II./KG26.
Thanks to those who help us to resolve, partially, mystery.
Jean-Paul
