Re: Bf109K-4 at bad Aibling

Sorry Marc, I have used only the photo from this forum:
http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/attach...2&d=1344408268
It's not hi-res. It got now lower resolution on my website.
But I have enlarged the scan in my photo program and I was not able to see a WNr. on the rudder, that are just JPG compression arthefacts.

Best Regards,
David

David,

You sure those are only JPG compression patterns? If yes, alas, a theory goes out by the window....

Re: Bf109K-4 at bad Aibling

Could this be the same K-4 as in the LIFE photo?

Cheers,

D.B.

Dear Mr. Andrus,

Unless I am mistaken, the last Bf109K-4 you posted was from II./JG 52 and was probably photographed at Neubiberg. Note that it sports that unit’s typical short II.Gruppe bar, yellow cowl band, and yellow rudder. I don’t believe that the Bad Aibling K-4 has a yellow rudder.

Me 109K-4 bad Aibling life reference

Gentelmen,

Here is the original reference for this "life" photo...but no name of photographer.

http://images.google.com/hosted/life...e3d358dc527cde

The enlarged photo is very interesting.

But.. I have been unable to buy a print.

regards
Rémi

Re: Bf109K-4 at bad Aibling

I´m almost certain theres the WNr stencilled on the lower part of the rudder, which most likely would make it a K-4 from the Mtt Regensburg "Bürg" (i.e. Flossenbürg-Vilseck) production line.
This would correspond with the regular "Oberflächenschutzliste 8 Os 109K" camo applied on 332???, 334??? and 335??? production blocks.
Left of the starboard fuselage Balkenkreuz parts of the hand-sprayed last three digits of the WNr may be recognized.

Btw, the wing camo is depicted on p.56 bottom of Japo´s Bf109K camouflage opus...

Hello Roland,

Perhaps it is my rapidly aging eyesight, but if you are still referring to the Bf109K-4 at Bad Aibling, I can’t for the life of me see any sign of a Werknummer on its lower rudder.

Hello Steve,
yes, I´m talking about #"81".
The WNr is there, in the right position - but unfortunately not readable. Nothing more than a shadow of six digits close together.
Only four paint strokes of the fuselage WNr can be seen - ?14 with a certain amount of fantasy

Regards

Roland

Hallo Roland,

After checking again, I can only concur. Too bad the rudder wasn't to full port that day...

Cheers
Marc
