Re: I./KG27 & Stalingrad Air Supply

The following planes belonging to KG27 were found and examined by Soviet side after the Stalingrad operation:

1G+BS in Novocherkassk-Khutunok on February 14.
1G+HU, w.n. 7360, same place and date
1G+FK w.n. 4426, same place and date

w.n. 8192 was later finished off by bombing at Novocherkassk after it landed with 30% damage on January 24.

Re: I./KG27 & Stalingrad Air Supply

If Matti has no crew details, there were no casualties on both of these.

You are right, I should of taken note of the % of damage before re-asking the question. My mistake.

Just want to say a heartfelt thank you to all who have helped and provided input on this matter, it is genuinly appreciated. The Stalingrad air-lift is a fascinating subject and I hope that an English language work is one day published on the topic.

Regards Richard.

Most of the Sonderstab Milch files in RL 30 have been scanned by the BA-MA and are freely downloadable.

Re: I./KG27 & Stalingrad Air Supply

Must have missed this one when new.

Going through the various lists and other posts I have questions about the following:

WNr 4948 (Karsten, well Waiss) or 4978 (Matti) lost on 17.1.1943?

Was Nikita Egorov's book ever published in English? If yes, can someone please supply some further details?

Cheers
Stig
