Re: Any Flugbuch entries for Ar66

Note: Repaired aircraft (often) had parts fitted from other aircraft. After 1937 this was the rule: Do not wait for parts to be repaired; fit whatever parts (that) already were repaired and available. The rear part of fuselage (the part below the fin) ruling what W.Nr. the completed airframe had. After 1941, in that area a triangular "emergency" dataplate was fitted. This gives type and W.Nr., but I suppose you already know this.

Ar66c WNr. 1034 no data on history available

Ar66c WNr. 1244 must be an error, between WNr. 1198 and 1801 there were no Ar 66

Ar66c WNr. 2170 no data on history available

Hmm ... what do think about FB Zima? There is mentioned Ar 66, W.Nr.1245, PD+NY, in 06/42. I'm not sure about the reliability of this logbook.

Best regards
Rasmussen

P.S.: In FB Beck I've found the Ar 66, W.Nr.1446, too.

Re: Any Flugbuch entries for Ar66

As you both see 1244 is stamped on a fairing. As we have found other WrkNr the same way, we can recon this as confirmed,

This wil then give 1244 as PD + NX then ?

Not for sure ... regarding my log entries is W.Nr.892, PD+NK, and W.Nr.1245, PD+NY, and I don't know if W.Nr.1245 is the begin of the batch or an part of another.

greetings
Rasmussen

Re: Any Flugbuch entries for Ar66

To Merlin:
You say that there were no Ar 66 between W.Nr. 1198 and 1801. In fact, there were at least two series of Werk Nummern, one in the 1200 series
and one in the 1400 series. I have from aircraft repair reports at least between 60 and 70 W.Nummer that prove this. They are reports in the RL 3 documents series from Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv. Again I urge you to quote what sources you are using.
The W.Nr. 1244 is absolutely valid. This aircraft arrived at Hans Klemm Flugzeugbau in Böblingen on 17.09.1937 and spent 86 days there for repairs.

Re: Any Flugbuch entries for Ar66

Sorry for the confusion triggered by my last post.

There were indeed Ar 66 in this number range. They were build by AGO from autumn 1935 to spring 1936 and were officially delivered as 2/1201 to 2/1258 and 2/1399 to 2/1450.

WNr. 2/1244 has had the registration AC+AH (I know this is far outside any rules but it's confirmed by several Flugbuch entries and photos). The last owner according to my files was I./FAG 101 at Großenhain in May 1944.

Re: Any Flugbuch entries for Ar66

We have at last found the orginal WrkNr on the airframe we are restoring. During a test of the compleat wing set restord at Kjevik monted on the airframe. At this ocation there was found to be painted a WrkNr on the rudderpedals in the rear cocpit. These where dismantled from the airframe and have been lost until now. Se my flickr acount. This means we need info on the real WrkNr 1034.

Regards
Ernst
