Re: Hurricane serial number?

Kirche,
That inspection stamp will be from another company (not Hawker) who made that particular part.
Photos. Are you saying the forum will not allow any more of your photos? How many photos have you posted? Post #16 has 4, and post #18 has one. I don't think that should be over the limit.
Regards
Geoff

Re: Hurricane serial number?

Geoff, unfortunately the identification number aren't found. There where you showed there are only two inspection marks of HA 413 (on each detail)
Hawker inspection oval marks are generally filled everywhere (on each detail different figures). Only on two small details there are inspection round marks of PSCO (155 and 156).
But on a place of landing there were many small details (now they froze in soil) - will hope that the main plate remained there (when broke out a chair it had to break off).
Best regards, Kirill

Re: Hurricane serial number?

Geoff, The part number that was found was HA413. Still no serial number.

Re: Hurricane serial number?

Nokose, the numbers after HA just refer to the inspection of the part and so are of no use for the identity. By 'still no serial number' I assume that means they have now looked where suggested and found nothing. PM sent.

Re: Hurricane serial number?

Kirche, for some unknown reason I didn't see your post #22 and responded to Nokose's #23 instead.
So, definitely a Hawker build. The PSCO inspection marks will be on parts from a sub-contractor, probably the Pressed Steel Company. Taking the seat out should not affect the identity plate, but two stainless steel tubes make a V shape from under the seat to the joint (on either side of the aircraft) where the plate is attached. Those tubes have been crudely removed and with the left side one has gone the identity plate. It is possible that unwanted parts like the identity plate might have been 'cleaned' off the more attractive stainless steel tubes and discarded if the objective was metal salvage. You might be lucky when the ground thaws, but it looks as though the stripping has been thorough; so thorough that I see no reason why the salvagers should leave behind any detachable aluminium panels either. Time will tell. PM sent.
With regards
Geoff
