Re: General question re. Flugbuch

Bill, Junker, Tim, Nick, Norbert ,

Thank you very much for all your very interesting information.
Please,

1/ So it was not only the unit which provided/sold the Fl to airmen but also booksellers ?
2/ Someone said to me that Flugbuchen of each country were the same (with same information, same columns etc) concerning civilians or militaries flights ... responding to international conventions ... Is it true ?
3/ Never saw such draft writen by airmen before writing on Fl.

I wish you good researches !
Phil

Re: General question re. Flugbuch

Hi all

I am not suggesting this is a representative sample but in my collection I have the following different types of Flugbuch:

Printed by Franz Heß, Braunschweig-München:
3 x Privately bound soft-back Flugbuch with no original covers remaining
7 x Blue soft cover (I think this is probably the most commonly encountered type)
1 x Black soft cover
4 x Black hard cover

Marked 'Fliegerschule (See) Parow bei Stralsund' (no printer name):
1x Pale brown soft cover

Printed by Nordmann & Baerschte, Erfurt:
1 x Pale brown soft cover

Unmarked (the one that mentions 'Fluggast')
1x Orange soft cover

Re: General question re. Flugbuch

Hi Bill,

I have a Sterbebild of a Luftwaffe man who was a specialist radio man - whose role wax to jam allied radio signals and such like. These fliers would have flown a lot of missions but would have not had a specific flight badge. Could he be one of these specialist 'hammers'?

Rick

Re: General question re. Flugbuch

Hi Rick

I got to a similar place to you. As this man went on to join a 'Mausi' unit hunting magnetic mines in a Ju 52 and detonating them using a Magnetic Gauss attachment, I wondered if this pointed to him being an electronics expert.

Rick,
I have no way of knowing but I would have thought that a 'specialist radio man' would at least have had a Bordfunker's badge or similar.

Re: General question re. Flugbuch

Hello everyone,

I hope this isn’t too far beyond the scope of this conversation, but in my Hersteller database I have four companies listed as producing Luftwaffe Flugbucher (Sp?):

Heidelberger Gutenberg-Druckerei GmbH (Von-Braun-Strasse 4b, Bottrop, Germany) this may be new address?

Hess (Heß), Franz, Verlag und Druck, Braunschweig 53729 and München.

Nordmann & Baerschte, Erfurt.

Radetzki, Gebr., Verlag, Berlin SW 68.

Any additional makers that I can add to my files will be greatly appreciated.

Steve Sheflin
