Re: eBay: German intrest

Hi!

https://www.ebay.de/itm/386065377358...Bk9SR9LuoNbJYg

(1st September 2023 posting, picture link 5).

Seems to be Swedish Caproni on background? This possible incident in Sweden might be identifiable?

Or is the Caproni on transfer flight?

Cheers,
Kari

Kari,

Z5+GH is not listed in Bo Widfeldts books on A/C that ended up in Sweden during the war. I can't find what unit Z5 could be.

I have Z5 listed as Erg.Aufkl.Gr.O.d.Lw

The Caproni in the background feels very likely to be a Swedish one.
The initial batches were delivery flown from Italy to Sweden via Germany in late 1940 (Sep-Nov 1940).

Very good spotting Kari! Didn't notice it myself.....

Cheers
Stig

I have this from ULTRA in June 1940:
CX/JQ/55
18/6/40
An a/c marked Z5+EH was shot down by mistake by German fighters on 13/6.
Until I saw this photo, I thought that U5+EH was intended since Z and U are next to one another on an Enigma machine keyboard.

Any information on this A-2, unit marking (on both sides) and the barrage balloon kill?
