Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Post #3431: photo straightened out and otherwise adjusted. I'd say that the Werk Nummer probably begins 17.... but that's as far as I can get.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Hello Nick,
Post #3436 - I have this Me 262 A-1a as KUNO-built WNr. 111747, found abandoned at the Sheppach Waldwerke in April, 1945.
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Gents,

Other clearer versions of this photo reveal the Werknummer as 111747. WNr.111704 appears on the 26 April 1945 Munchen-Riem Werknummer document but is an invalid number (it is one of about ten or so transcription errors). WNr.111704 is on the list and was found at Bad Aibling coded “we.7” with JV 44. WNr.111740 was also on the list and noted in a group of five Werknummern with one of these indicated as being a “total write-off”.

Cheers,

David

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

The references I referred to (books and 'net) stated W.Nr. 111074...

However, I do have a number of photos of this 262, which I have gone back to review. Very close examination of the tails gives a W.Nr. 111747. So the books are incorrect and I can confirm David's posting. It is unique that 111747 is not applied in a continuous display. There is a significant gap between 111 and 747 applied to the tail.

My files now corrected.
