Re: South Ossetian conflict

According to aircraft losses:

Russia said he lost two planes - one Tu-22M and one Su-25 between August 8 and 10 . Georgian losses are uncertain - Abkhazia told her soldiers shot down one Su-25, South Osetia one helicopter and Russia probably destroyed two Georgian Su-25 on ground, one Su 25 in air combat and several Georgian helicopters. Georgian Air Force had only seven Su-25 before conflict. Georgians claimed 10 shot down Russian Planes. But we can take for sure only two Russian planes which were confirmed by Russian Officials.

Re: South Ossetian conflict

Hello!

It seems that Russian Ministry of Defence has admitted 4 Russian planes lost. One of them is Tu-22 and three(?) Su-25.

The Tu-22 (or Tu-26M3-R) was reconnaissance plane from 929 GLITs (some kind of testing unit). One of the crew died. This posting at VIF2-forum gives even the tactical number "36" for the plane:

Peace!
