Re: Talfryn Thomas (actor and Lancaster crewman)

Just a thought there is a Dads Army appreciation society - what ever it is called and has been around for many years. I know that they met or meet in Norfolk around Thetford area where the progamme was filmed and I bet they would have something on Tal if he served in WW2

Now THAT is a thought. I should try to contact the society if all else fails beforehand.

Many thanks for the suggestion of consulting the archives in Kew. I don't mean this as a sarcastic comment, but rather as a geniune question: Is there a way I can consult them from here in Australia? It really DOES sound like a good way of finding out the answer to my query, even if it is taking the long way round.

Consulting the archives at Kew is possible remotely if you want to pay someone for their time in searching for you - as I have seen people offering this service for a fee in aviation mags.

There was an article in The Sunday Telegraph following the death of one of the writers this week.
It was again mentioned that 'Fraser' asked them to remove 'Taff The Teeth' because he was getting too many laughs.
I have to say he was really good in Dads Army and the rest of the cast were right to worry about him stealing the show.
A bit like Cosner felt when Rickman totaly overshadowed his Robin Hood!

However I know the guys who run the still-running UK DAAS and so I'll drop them an email and see what they might have gathered along the way which may perhaps not have been published.

I should also say that the AHB do not have a Cas card for a 1408581 John Talfryn Thomas, Talfryn Thomas or J T Thomas. I am sure there will be loads of John Thomas's!
