post #29: digiartist:
The KG54 Gruppen only had 3 Staffeln so we can exclude blue as a possibility here. Leaves red or a black 11.

Rudi.

Re: Nice Me 262

Thanks Rudi, I've certainly only seen photos of Kg-54 262's wearing yellow numbers so it's interesting to see a photo (if it is Kg-54) with a different colour.

Re: Nice Me 262

post #24: sidney:

Looking at the loss list in Siegfried Radtke's book on KG54 the last Me262 lost with "bomber codes" was B3+DK on March 22nd 1945 while the first Me262 lost with "fighter codes" was white 8 on April 7th 1945. In between these dates several other Me262 of KG54 were lost but no codes are given.

Of course "old" Me262 with "bomber coding" may have been used wel after March 22nd along with newly delivered Me262 with "fighter codes" but at least it gives you an idea of the time frame KG54 switched to the numeral fighter-style coding on their a/c.

Regards,
Rudi.

Re: Nice Me 262

Hi All
My knowledge of 262's is far less than the commentators here on this thread.
I just wanted to let the commentators know that a great "silent majority" of us just sit .... and read ..... and digest ..... and appreciate your comments based on your experience..... I, also, as PhillipeDM said ...... "...love this passionate debate. This confirms the worth of such an open forum as this one."
Thank you Gents.....

This is "yellow 3" of KG(J)54. The tailband was overpainted with RLM83.

I'll try to scan that excerpt of the KG(J)6 report later today as this is very small in the KG(J) Book...

Hi Philippe,
Thank you for the ID, looking forward to the scan.

Re: Nice Me 262

Dear All,

While this 1 May 1945 document states that KG(J) 54 and KG(J) 6 were to fly jet aircraft, the question is did KG(J) 6 actually get to fly them and is this particular aircraft from KG(J) 54 or KG(J) 6? Even if one assumed that the aircraft came to KG(J) 6 with a KG(J) 54 unit insignia, how could you prove that an actual transfer of this specific aircraft to KG(J) 6 actually happened?

This is a very late war document and it is quite possible that what it ordered never happened.

Regards,
Richard
