....it produced aces from more different nations than any other aircraft type. Check this out:

Rhodesia (independent from 1965 onwards): William Maguire 12 11. Norway: Svein Heglund 11,33 12. Poland: Eugeniusz Horbaczewski 11 13. Denmark: Kaj Birksted 10,5 14. Czechoslovakia (1918-1992): Otto Smik 9 15. Belgium: Yvan Du Monceau 8 16. Netherlands: Hugh Godefroy 7 17. Soviet Union (1922-1991): Sergey Martynov 6 There is also a Spanish guy named Juan Lario who flew Spitfires for the Soviet Union. According to Tomas Polak, he scored 27+8sh kills in WW2 but I don't know how many of them were scored in the Spitfire. Who does ? |
