Re: Bf109A,B,C,D in Legion Condor
Yes, it makes sense that those who still had to fly an old biplane received the newest Bf109 subtype.

Gentlemen,
If I may, there is a number of good books on the Legion Condor available on Amazon.com (co.uk or elsewhere). You should be able to find most, if not all, answers to your queries there. In any case, it is a good way to start your research. Regards, Sinisa Last edited by sidney; 1st July 2018 at 18:18. |

Re: Bf109A,B,C,D in Legion Condor
Good evening,
in that book https://www.amazon.de/Aces-Legion-Co...on+condor+aces Robert Forsyth says that 6-79 was photographed with 15 kill bars. That implies that all Spain kills of Mölders were scored in a Bf109D. Kind regards, Michael |

Yes, so it does. I missed that.
So long as Forsythe didn't assume it was 6o79, there is your answer. Peter |

Quote:
Similarly, there is considerable dispute as to the colours the aircraft were painted. Forsythe says 6o79 was painted with RLM62 uppers, other say RLM63. There are similar issues with many other SCW aircraft. I don't yet know who or what is right. One source quotes a Lynn Richter, who is held up to be a Bf109 expert. Richter apparently says they would have been RLM63. As for the suggestion of more books, I have 2 and can access information from a third, and none answer the questions - how many do we buy?? I also lament that they all seem to present conflicting information in some areas, so what's the point? Is it simply that there is not enough solid information available to answer the questions? Re: Bf109A,B,C,D in Legion Condor
Good morning Peter,
yes, sometimes buying another book in hope for clarification just increases the confusion :-( Forum discussions are often a better means than buying more books than one can read in limited leisure time. I suggest pronouncing Mölders the top Bf109D ace until proof of the opposite. Could you agree that Boddem and Harder are the joint top Bf109B aces ? Sorry that I cannot answer your colour question, Michael |

Re: Bf109A,B,C,D in Legion Condor
I cannot discern any individual planes on these photos.
Did Legion pilots indicate their own plane type in their combat reports like WW2 pilots did ? |
