Post Re: Birth/Death details of non Ritterkreuz 50+ aces

Gentlemen,

According to some sources,Hermann Segatz had seven US four-motor bombers among his 40 air kills. He had about five air kills during the Battle of Britain. His Western air kills are almost about equal to his Soviet ones. I maybe wrong. I kind of was surprised that Segatz wasn't awarded the Knight's Cross after his death.

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao

Post Re: Birth/Death details of non Ritterkreuz 50+ aces

Gentlemen,

Oberfeldwebel Kurt Fritz Celtjen had 54 victories by August 1943 when he was wounded in action. He was a DKiG winner of 5/JG-54. His score maybe higher when he recovered. I had been looking at Kracker Archives lately.

Some other sources had put Oberfeldwebel Wilhelm Theimann of JG-51 at about 55 victories. A DKiG winner.

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao

Re: Birth/Death details of non Ritterkreuz 50+ aces

Hi Eduard

I can find no claims at all for Celtjeh, plus no DKiG......A phantom. With Theimann DKiG was awarded 31st March 1943 after twenty-seven confirmations, total forty-two in the East. D.O.B 13th January 1920.
Segatz DKiG on 25th September 1942 after twenty-eight confirmations, Total thirty-three confirmed: 20 in East, 13 West including four heavy bombers. D.O.B 29th June 1917......also at least three unconfirmed...including two heavies.

Regards

Johannes

Re: Birth/Death details of non Ritterkreuz 50+ aces

Hi Edward

Hans Ellendt now fifty-eight confirmed claims. He died on 25th May 2007. In 1945 tanks were counted as aircraft(however I don't count them......they didn't fly), so Ellendt claimed fifty-six before being wounded on 28th December 1943, then returned to combat in 1945 and claimed two more aircraft, and four tanks. He claimed much Russian material on the ground during 1942-1943.

Manfred Eberwein is still living, but has been very ill for quite some time.

Kind Regards

Johannes
