Re: JG 51 victories (Part 2)
In the Stalingrad sector at the time... Whoa... I did not know that...
So this is perhaps one of the less reliable sources that www.allaces.ru refers to in some instances? |

Re: JG 51 victories (Part 2)
I have been trying to determine: was Muencheberg's Pe-2 claim at 0709hrs tied in with these losses or was it from 10 ORAP? Crew of Leytenant Vasily Pavlovich Sazonov failed to return this date

Re: JG 51 victories (Part 2)
Stab/JG 51 Hptm. Joachim Münchcheburg Pe-2 (104) 07:09 PlQu. 47762/ SSE of Zubtsov could be tied into it. Seems when to many units or Staffel in this case did over claim. There were also two losses from air battles in JG 51 this day but the circumstances and times I don't know.
Also this day another bomber raid was intercepted belonging to 204 BAD. Pe-2 38 BAP (Fl. co.) Lt. Ivan Lazarevich Pal'tsev (MIA) Pe-2 38 BAP (Fl. co.) Serzhant Mikhail Ivanovich Evseev (MIA) Pe-2 38 BAP St. Serzh. Dmitriy Evdokimovich Bitsenko (MIA) 7./JG 51 Max Bärmoseer Pe-2 (1) 16:27 46224 9./JG 51 Lt. Re: JG 51 victories (Part 2)
My friend Cyril Kirche in Moscow sent me a copy of the magazine Герои Неба Военнфя Археология 4 [20] 2013 with an article by Ruslan Lukashev "And the Sky Wept With Snow" about the group he is with that recovers the shot down remains of the aircraft and aviators both Russian and German from WW2. There are many such groups and men in Russia that do this to give a proper closure to families and to honor the fallen. In this instance they recovered a Soviet LaGG-3 in the winter time in the forest near a small village.
09 Aug 1943 He-111 raid in the region of Kurdyuki Losses of the 523 IAP LaGG-3 (# 2924) Serzhant Mikhail Ivanovich Korotaev (KIA) LaGG-3 (# 3087) Kapt. Mikhail Georgievich Kuz'kin (KIA) 12/JG 51 Lt. Ernst Weismann LaGG-3 (64) 14:52 PlQu. 46262 LaGG-3 (65) 14:54 PlQu. 56121 In this instance M.I. Korotaev was given a military funeral and his family was there. |

Re: JG 51 victories (Part 2)
Hello, I want to specify
- "magazine Герои Неба Военнфя Археология" - it's magazine "Military archeology", topic "Heroes of the Sky" - LaGG-3 of M.I.Korotaev it was found in the winter of 2013 at a depth of 5 meters to the south of a square 35ost 46262 (northern part 46264) - LaGG-3 of M.G.Kuz'kin it was found in the 1990th years (it is finally investigated in the summer of 2012) to the southwest a square 35ost 56121 (northeast part 56142). The remains of the Navigator 523 IAP 234 IAD were buried with military honors in December, 2013 (the pilot's relatives within two years didn't manage to be found) Also I will add: 07.08.42 Ltn. Ernst Weismann 12./JG 51 MiG-3 - 56 154: at 300 m. 14.35 For 90% it's loss: Yak-1 (#5083) 32 IAP 201 IAD of Colonel Leonid Grigoryevich Kuldin, Deputy Commander 1VA. The plane is found near the village of Titovka (southeast part 56142), the pilot jumped out with a parachute, but died, he is buried in Moscow with military honors. 13.08.42 Ltn. Ernst Weismann 12./JG 51 (69, Rk) MiA after air combat with fighters: 9 km to the north (according to other data to the northeast) Rzhev - Bf-109F-2 WNr.5496 Braune 12 + It most likely a victory of the captain Pyotr Sergeyevich Ovcharov, the commander of the first squadron 157 IAP (on Hurricanes) 256 IAD 3 VA This day (morning) the group of four Hurricanes to the northeast of Rzhev was attacked twice by single Bf-109. After that the commander of group attacked and shot down his in 8 km to the north Rzhev, the pilot of Bf-109 went down on a parachute. Its destiny isn't known - "He is not captured". In the "Bote von der Ybbs" newspaper (Austria) of September, 1942 it is also told that Weismann's plane was shot down in fight with the Soviet fighters and the pilot jumped out with a parachute. Best regards, Kirill |

09 Mar 1943 09:04 (M) - . Planned attack on the Orel airfield (southwest) by 5 Il-2 from the 825 ShAP led by Mayor Prokorov and escorted by 6 Yak-1 from the 286 IAD.
