This has been on sale before. Only difference is that De Veynes first name was quoted as Jacques. Checking 'The French Air Service war chronology' Bailey/Cony tend to agree. How certain is Jean??

Cheers

Re: Photo Nieuport

Thanks Bertrand

I can see the problem. There were two de Sieyes, one Jacques and one Jean. Both Captains as well.

Not a very good tracking site. When entering both names (de Sieyes de Veynes) the system does not acknowledge anything. Took a while to get it right.

From where does the knowledge about the second last name come from?
Also with such an unusual name, were the two persons related? I notice that basically nothing is known about the one named Jacques.

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photo Nieuport

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of Nieuport 10 N.446 at:

https://www.ebay.it/itm/Vue-aerienne...UAAOSwqwNew3J5

The site at : http://albindenis.free.fr/Site_escad...e_Nieuport.htm

mentions a photo of this aircraft, so I hope its not the same. Speaking of this very helpful site it has the notation N 31 - N 3, Would I be correct in assuming that the writer simply means the plane moved fron N31 to N3? An obvious question I suspect but best to be clear.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photo Nieuport

Photo has been published Clint, but this seems to be a very good quality one.

Aircraft itself was bought in March 1913 and assigned to RAF at Farnborough, so I suppose there is a good chance this photo was actually taken there.

By August the same year it was finished...

Cheers
Stig
