That is what I meant and suspect. Look at the 617 Sqn logbook furore which has resulted in jail for the man who said it was lost in the post

I think that's John Foreman in his RAF Fighter Command Victory Claims (or maybe Norman Franks in his RAF Fighter Command Losses) that complains that some important documents were borrowed and never returned and left a big gap in the research field. Disgusting behavior .

This was the civil servant who systematically stole combat reports and documents from the National Archives and then sold them. He made quite a bit but let us not divert this thread!
