Re: Forthcoming books from Chris Shores

Andreas,
Chris says that he and Giovanni Massimello will only be there on Saturday. I don't know if Grub Street will have a booth of their own, or if they are working with a bookstore. He asks if you would like to have the two of them sign a copy, and have Grub Street post it to you. I suggest that you email me through TOCH, and we will find a way to get you a signed copy. Without Russell Guest, unfortunately, since Australia is a bit far to jump to London for a one day visit to Duxford.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Re: Forthcoming books from Chris Shores

Excellent, many thanks to all who helped. Went yesterday, was a splendid day for an airshow, picked up the books from John, and very nice they are.

All the best

Andreas

I have ordered the book. Duxford is so far from here. I will be there next year.

Re: Forthcoming books from Chris Shores

Yes NickM, you are getting ahead of yourself. At the Duxford Air Show, John Davies (Grub Street publisher) said, after checking with Chris and Giovanni, that he hoped that Volume 2 would be available at the corresponding Air Show in 2013. I think this is pushing it a bit; Chris seems to think it is doable. I might note that Volume 2 will cover the period February 1942 to March 1943 in the Eighth Army area (ie, Egypt, Libya, southern Tunisia), to the time when they met the Allied armies advancing from the West (which advance will be covered in Volume 3, which will go to May 1943). I will be handling the US (USAAF, USN) aspects of these and subsequent volumes, which is relatively small in Volume 2. I can add that we will endeavor to match John's plan, but it is only now starting to meet the enemy.

Easy ys myne boke to rede and telleth of moche fyte
But then your easy rede is damned hard to wryte.
----Sir William Napier

Enjoy!
