Re: JG 52 victories
I have the names of the pilots but there were more then just these two shot down so it's not possible to match who shot down who in this dogfight.

Re: JG 52 victories
04 Aug 1943 Tomarovka region
6 Yak-7B 0f the 728 IAP (265 IAD) led by Kapt. Arseniy Vasil'evich Vorozheykin attacked a group of Ju 87 under escort of 8 Bf 109. Vorozheykin claimed to have shot down three Ju 87 (his 6, 7 and 8 personal). His group claimed to have damaged 3 more Ju 87 and 2 Bf 109. Ml. Lt. Ivan Emelyanovich Marya had a claim filed for him for shooting down a Bf 109. Marya was shot down and KIA. I don't know if any other Yaks were shot down. There were no Bf 109 shot down. As far as the JU 87 being shot down, I have no information. The victor in this incident is the only one claiming at this time and location. 7./JG 52 Lt. Erich Hartmann LaGG-3 (52) 10:19 PlQu. 35 Ost/61391 7./JG 52 " " " LaGG-3 (53) 10:30 PlQu. 35 Ost/61331 On my first post on this thread I had found another Hartmann victory. I now know that U-2 was his #16 from JFV 12/II. |

Re: JG 52 victories
19.10.42. Guenther Rall claimed two I-16s just after 1300hrs (German time) near Elchotowo. It seems these were claimed against 88 IAP. At least one loss: Serzhant Viktor Illich Shakhov KIA

Re: JG 52 victories
On looking at the claims at El'khotovo which were his 96 and 97 victories, I found the name of the pilot St. Serzhant Viktor Il'ich Shakhov was KIA. The other I-16 appears to have survived in this case.

Re: JG 52 victories
It seems we agree on this one then. Just a slight overclaim on Rall's part.

Re: JG 52 victories
Why an overclaim? Rall (and other fighter pilots) did not claim shot down pilots, but rather aircraft (damaged beyond repair).
