Re: Photos Beuteflugzeuge
The Savoia SM 75 D-ATAD had W.Nr. 32043 and was taken over by German authorities on 10. November 1943 and delivered to a unit with Feldpostnummer L 46708 on 25. February 1944. The plane had been transferred from Italy to Germany.

Re: Photos Beuteflugzeuge
A couple of thoughts
First of all should we actually call the aircraft built for account of Luftwaffe as "beute"? To me it implies captured and in the case above of the Caudron 445 BC+QN it was never captured, it was built for Luftwaffe use. It was No 438/9166 and was ready on 16 April 1941. Picture most likely shows its accident at Stavanger 9 October that same year. On the other hand I find it very agreeable that we try and lump together all such aircraft under a common heading, instead of having all sorts of headings hard to find. Clint, no doubt, is already well aware of this, but just in case others are not.... The Avia B.71 on the other hand was probably a true "beute" and is I believe VG+BI Cheers Stig |

Re: Photos Beuteflugzeuge
Hi Stig,
Yes, technically I'd have to agree with your take perhaps an aircraft built under German occupation is best described as something other than Beute. But at the time I created the thread it appeared relatively short and snappy. I wouldn't be completely opposed to another title, but what? Foreign designed aircraft of the Luftwaffe sounds a bit clunky. If other board users have a better idea I wouldn't be opposed to changing the thread title (though I suppose at this stage the moderation teanm would have to do so). Meanwhile here is a photo of a NAA 57 currently on ebay, full Stkz NF+WZ perhaps?: https://www.ebay.de/itm/313799219635...cAAOSwQ5xhvwv~ The same seller has other definitively German designed machines at: https://www.ebay.de/sch/m.html?item=...gzeug&_sacat=0 Also on ebay are four photos of aircraft originally of Italian design as follows: Fiat RS.14 https://www.ebay.it/itm/175082279553...UAAOSwt1phyHb9 Caproni Ca.133 WL-AHSQ https://www.ebay.it/itm/175082291777...0AAOSwXz9hyHyH Caproni CA.113 https://www.ebay.it/itm/175082287824...cAAOSwmSlhyHs0 Cant Z.1007 ter https://www.ebay.it/itm/175082254392...AAAOSwVdphyG3z Regards, Clint Last edited by musec04; 26th December 2021 at 20:19. |

It would of course be clever if we could come up with something useful, but what do we do with those aircraft/individuals that were 'Beute' but also later were built "en masse" for the Luftwaffe? That would mean an endless checking, perhaps guesswork in the end. Don't think me thinking out aloud has made anyone much wiser, so if no one mind I would say, let's stick to what we have. Re: Photos Beuteflugzeuge
Hello,
Currently on ebay there is a photo of a DH.84, surrounded by what appear to be members of the NSDAP,perhaps the SA: https://www.ebay.de/itm/125071541885...kAAOSwwDZhyXtX Is the former OE-FKD the only option for a DH.84 in German hands? Did it pass into Luftwaffe service at any stage? Regards, Clint |

Re: Photos Beuteflugzeuge
Nice one Clint
At face value, no other DH 84 got close to Germany so it seems quite likely it actually is the former No 64 (OE-FKD) in German hands post 1938. I have only seen photos of it just before its delivery flight to Austria and then it was painted in some dark colour while it seems quite light here. Repainted or different film perhaps? I have asked Air Britains Guru if he has any thoughts about it. Cheers Stig |

Re: Photos Beuteflugzeuge
Malcolm came back to me and said he had second thoughts about this one being the ex Austrian one.
He mentioned the dark colour worn when delivered, but also what seems to be painted on the nose of the aircraft. Anyone handy with computers and can give us some better contrast? It all looks so easy on the Tele.... Due to these facts, he rather thinks it is a Spanish one. He also suggested either a Turkish or Portuguese connection, but making a choice I would go for Spain myself. Cheers Stig |

Re: Photos Beuteflugzeuge
Hi Stig,
I didn't clock the writing on the nose. I don't have the ability to change the contrast either. No doubt that should help to settle the nationality of the aircraft shown. Just a couple of thoughts, the markings on the tail could be those used by the Fuerzas Aéreas de la República Española.Having said that, both individuals behind the wing - the guy in the black uniform and the one with the arm band do look as though they'd fit in the Third Reich.I don't know much about Spanish uniforms of the thirties though.
