If that shocks you, I wouldn't advise visiting Paris.

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi folks,
Over on facebook.com, Rob Paull suggests the Arnhem bridge. After checking out the available photos, this makes sense. And now a far off shot: any Bf 109 losses known in the second half of September 1944 in eyesight of the bridge ? Thanks in advance Marc |

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
And another nagging question: I just uploaded a picture thanks to Peter, over on LEMB, of a WNF built Bf 109 G-6 "Rote 3", of an unknown III./JG.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...n/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...n/photostream/ I'm pretty sure I've seen already this pic, but can't remember where. Your help will be appreciated! Cheers Marc |

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Oh yes. Good photos, Marc! And BIG thanks to Mr. Evans for the find on eBay... very good! Respect...
I don't find it... but I remember a colour photo of a G-6(?) with a "red 3"?! For your photo from post #625... looks a bit like that: http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&fid=7358 But the new photo was taken later... gras is higher and some more parts are missing on the plane (prop blade, etc.)

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
True, David: Peter helps us enormously with his untiring picture hunting efforts.
As for post 625, we have a real trouble here: the bridge in the background looks like the one in Arnhem, and this 109 belly landed on the northern bank of the Rhine, which to my understanding was held by the Germans until Spring 1945.... Don't know what to do with this one. The one sure thing is the sitting officer: he is for sure British, not Russian like for Bf 109 G-14 W.Nr. 511 500 "Weisse 10"... Prost! Marc |

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
If it's Arnhem, wouldn't it be on the south bank of the Rhein? On the north bank, the bridge emerged right out of the built-up area of the city. There was open ground to the south, e.g. where the Polish Parachute Brigade was dropped.
