Pretty certain that the bridge is Nijmegen, counting the vertical supports it is the same number in both the images supplied.

Many thanks, chaps, this sets the location! "All" what remains now is the unit and date;-))
Much appreciated! Marc |

in Kennung column you type Rote 3 (fortunately only 6 answers) You start to check with "Unknown unit" and Bingo ... That's the one! [URL="www.flickr.com/photos/28092068@N03/8699746632" ... The same than one of the two above. Cheers, Franck. |

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Thanks for reminding me, Franck! By having a closer look, at the second (blow-up) pic, we can notice a III Gruppe bar. This would thus give us 10./JG 2, which at that time was based at Vannes-Meucon.

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Folks,
A fantastic find - at least for me - today: In Jet & Prop 2001/5, a dozen stills do show Bf 109 G-6 W.Nr. 18 312 "BF+QD" being tested by Flugkapitän Erich Dahm with a ...sickle bladed propeller! Regensburg, 1944-1945. Wow!!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/28092068@N03/ Cheers Marc Last edited by Marc-André Haldimann; 21st January 2014 at 18:02. |

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi Marc,
I see that: "Bf 109 G-6/R2/Trop W.Nr. unknown "Weisse ?", Lt. Troebs, 1./NAGr. 12, Mostar, Spring 1944" - seems to be the wrong link. But the most important - I SEE!! It´s like the healing of the blind... Btw, I have WNr 18312 as being delivered to 4° Stormo Regia Aeronautica from depot Bari June, 19, 1943 and a further mentioning in September 1944 at E-Stelle Rechlin. The 2nd mentioning might have somthing to do with your photo; the 1st mentioning might significate damage and repair. Regards Roland |

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Danke Roland! Just glad you can now wander around, pick your choice and shed your profound knowledge.
interesting the career of W.Nr. 18312: it one pot the few which actually were flown out of Southern Italy before it was too late... Cheers Marc |
