Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich

I can only guess, but it could be "Keine Personal Verluste" (= No Personnel Losses)

Thumbs up Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich

Hello Byron,

Not that one, but thank you anyway Byron.
This is the first time I can read such report and believe me I enjoy it! Nice trip.
One said "We know it, it's available here and there .. " maybe, at least everyone can appreciate; it's better like that.
What about KPV? It was a good question.

Thanks again Byron. How is life in Salonica?

Cheers, Franck.

A bit late (in regard to postings #29 and #30), but here is a photo of J2+23. It's from the G.F. Petrov collection and was published in the Squadron Walkaround No. 43. Too bad this one is not in the Lfl.6 listings...

Regards,
Christian

Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich

Hello,

Thank you Christian!
J2 is clearly visible (at least on that one).
Noticeable is the white(?) trim around numbers, and size. A Bf 109G-6? More details?
A stupid question: What we read on other side: that is; J2 is still in front of cross (from left to right) or behind?

Cheers, Franck.

Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich

Hi Franck,

sorry, the caption in the Squadron book doesn't provide any more real details. And in which place the "J2" on the starboard side was positioned? Likely between Balkenkreuz and tailplane, but there was at least one unit (ZG 26) who did it the other way round (at least on some of their crafts). So, until any photographic evidence comes up - no idea...

Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich

Byron,

Good to see again some great pics from Greece! I sure miss being in your country.

Christian, many thanks for posting J2 +23; a nice shot I didn't know... Note the all dark camoflaged G-6 or G-14 in the background. Another fine example of this very late war low-vis camouflage as seen on the erla built G-10's in the 150 000 - 152 000 W.Nr. range.
Any others of those late war 109's to share with us?

Herzlichen Dank!
Marc

Re: Losses in the last days of the Reich

Marc,
off course I can share some 109s - but as it was rather quiet on the late war photo front in the web during the last months, I don't know if I can offer something new or really exciting.
I've attached what I think will fit your field of interest (and of which I am not sure if it is in your photostream already). Hope the images are somehow useful!

Regards,
Christian
