Re: Nice Me 262
Dear Unikum,
thank you so much for this Christmas gift in form of a new Karoband Me262 photo. Without your hint this photo possibly would have been disappeared unseen in a private collection. It is a great pleasure to discuss this stuff here. In this spirit all the best for 2015. Karl |

Re: Nice Me 262
Nah, whether I am a buyer or seller, I have never agreed with posting auction links on public forums. It draws unwanted attention to items, and drives prices up unrealistically.
Posting the IMAGE is one thing...direct auction links to an auction is another. |

Re: Nice Me 262
If this Me 262 A-1* "Black 11" indeed belonged to III./KG(J) 6, it would make an interesting find.
Manfred Boehme in his book JG 7 - The World's First Jet Fighter Unit 1944/1945 stated on Page 188 that KG(J) 6 received "about six (6) Me 262 A aircraft". Henry L. de Zeng IV and Douglas G. Stankey in their book Bomber Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-1945, Volume 2, Page 340, stated that "... no more than a handful (aircraft) were eventually received (March 1945)..." by III./KG(J) 6. On the same page there is a photo of the Me 262 A-1a "White 5" of 9./KG(J) 6. Further reference is made to post No.10, where the link to EagleCals #138-48 Me 262 As KG(J) was given. There the author, no doubt supported by the photographic evidence, listed the following Me 262 A-1 aircraft of III./KG(J) 6: "White 1", "Red* 7", "Black 1" and "Yellow 3". So... in theory at least this "Black 11" was the last aircraft from the apparent batch of six aircraft commissioned by III./KG(J) 6. In the latter reference the authors also stated that "...a few Me 262s belonging to the Gruppe were reportedly captured by the Soviets at Pisek, but it is not known if these were intact." Thus, some more photos of the hitherto unknown III./KG(J) 6 aircraft might yet resurface in the future. Last edited by sidney; 26th December 2014 at 22:29. |
