Seeking ID of Fw200 Condor photo of K8 or KB+CH.

Hello,

New photo of Fw200, possibly a C-3, on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/141098896405...84.m1426.l2649

I'm puzzled by the a/c code, either K8+CH or KB+CH, with which I'm unfamiliar. The photo indicates an operational a/c with two ship attacks recorded on the rudder. I'm trying to make sure that this is NOT an a/c that could have been conducting combat operations during 1940. I think probably not.

Can anyone confirm that for me, and explain the unfamiliar coding?

Regards,

Re: Seeking ID of Fw200 Condor photo of K8 or KB+CH.

Is it possibly an "F" painted on top of the K? F8+CH

Here is a google search of fw 200 F8+ch. The first few pics are of F8+CH and the ebay pic is there as well. Unfortunately they no longer open up.

I found this info elsewhere;

Fw 200 C-3/U4 KF+QL / F8+CH W.Nr. 0026, "manufactured in 1940, unit code F8+CH, I./KG 40. Plane lost on 24th of July 1941 near Ireland, KIA /MIA/KIFA Hptm. Konrad Verlohr and 5 crew-members."

The over-painted K would fit in.

Chris et. al,

Thanx for your offer of a copy, and to all of you for your comments. Since this apparently is outside the end date (31.12.40) for the EoE Project, I don't need a copy.

No doubt the link will die a death soon so I've attached a copy for future reference

Re: Seeking ID of Fw200 Condor photo of K8 or KB+CH.

So just modified the Skz for the new code and hence why the F became and 8 and looks odd and the C over painting the Q.

If they didn't have to fully stencil the new letter/number they didn't always.

Lesson to everyone.

regards

Mark
