NAGr Fleischmann
Guys,
Came across reference to NAGr Fleischmann in the attached frame (95) from the file T-311 R270 HG Don. Had a look in Larry and Doug's Careeer Summaries and found reference to FLEISCHMANN, Werner (DOB: 23.07.12). (DKG). 25.08.42 appt Kdr. NAGr. 12. 21.11.42 appt Kdr. NAGr. Fleischmann. c.12.42 Hptm. and Kdr. NAGr. 7 (unlikely). 01.02.43 appt Kdr. NAGr. 12. Also found reference to EIGENMÜLLER, Horst. 04.01.43 Oblt. in NAGr. Fleischmann, MIA – in Bf 110 E-3 (6T+FA) that failed to return from a recce mission in the vicinity of Fp. Morosovskaya. HINGKELDEY, Heinz. (DOB: 14.10.10). 01.12.42 RDA for Oblt. (Kr.O./Fl.). 05.01.43 Oblt., NAGr. Fleischmann MIA - Bf 110 E-3 (5H+BK) lost vic Lutschessa-Tal, cause unknown. MICHALEK (MICHALEC?), Andreas. (DOB: 17.06.13). (DKG). 15.03.43 Oblt., NASt. Fleischmann awarded the DKG. ROST, Günther. 31.12.42 Lt., NAGr. Fleischmann WIA - Fw 189 A-2 by AA vic Tscherpuij. SCHARF, Axel. 04.01.43 Oblt. in NAGr. Fleischmann, MIA – in Fw 189 A-1 (KD+RA) that failed to return from a recce mission in the vicinity of Fp. Morosovskaya. Additionally, found this earlier posting Does anyone have any further information expanding on Larry's earlier post? Is it known what the subordinate units were? From the comment against Fleischmann in the Career Summaries it appears that Fleischmann may not have been Kdr. NAGr. 7 does this change anything regarding the source of staff for Stab./NAGr Fleischmann? Many thanks

Re: NAGr Fleischmann
I hope some of the following is helpful:
"On 24 March 1941, 7.(F)/LG 2 moved via Popest, Romania, to Krumovo in Bulgaria, and on 2 April to the Sofia-Vrazdebna airfield. There yellow identification markings were applied to the Staffel's Bf 110s, on the nose, elevators and rudders. The German forces attacked in 6 April 1941. After missions over Southern Yugoslavia and Greece, the Staffel supported the airborne invasion of Crete from Athens-Kalamaki. The Russian campaign saw the Staffel in action in the southern sector where, in the summer of 1941, it flew reconnaissance missions on behalf of Panzergruppe 1 with its few remaining Bf 110 E-3s and C-5s as well as several Bf 109 E-6s. In September 1941 the unit was briefly withdrawn from operations and sent to Breslau for a rest and refit. In December the Staffel returned to operations, flying from Mariupol on the Sea of Azov west of Rostov. In february it transferred to Stalino. In March 1942 the unit was renamed to 7.(H)/LG 2 and in May it was attached to Stab Nahaufklärungsgruppe 12 (NAGr 12). In November the Staffel was briefly combined with 3.(H)/31 to form NAGr Fleischmann (Tactical Reconnaissance Group Fleischmann). The Gruppe flew missions over Stalingrad from Golubinskaya (north of Kalach). On 11 December 1942 the airfield had to be abandoned in a hurry as Russian forces approached. Most of the unit's machines were lost, as only a few Bf 110s could be flown out. At the end of December, 7.(H)/LG 2 and 3.(H)/31 had just five machines between them! By January 1943 this number had been reduced to three. At the end of February 1943, 7.(H)/LG 2 disappeared from the Luftwafffe Order of Battle. Many of its ground personnel had been forced into the Stalingrad pocket when the Russians broke through, and on 3 February 1943 sixty men were reported missing there. There is no record of the disbandment of 7.(H)/LG 2, the unit probably just ceased to exist." Source: Luftwaffe im Focus, Spezial No. 1 To add to the confusion, the following were part of Aufklärungsgruppe Fleischmann. https://www.asisbiz.com/Luftwaffe/aufklg10.html https://www.asisbiz.com/Luftwaffe/aufklg12.html https://www.asisbiz.com/Luftwaffe/aufklg13.html https://www.asisbiz.com/Luftwaffe/aufklg31.html https://www.asisbiz.com/Luftwaffe/aufklg41.html Specifically: 1.(H)/10 3.(H)/12 6.(H)/13 3.(H)/31, but listed as 3.(F)/31 (typo?) 2.(H)/41 Last edited by edwest2; 12th May 2018 at 01:04. |

Re: NAGr Fleischmann
Ed,
Many thanks for the Luftwaffe im Focus item - have that buried somewhere, so will dig it out and review. Thanks for the asizbiz items - they are the same as Michael Holm's - should have searched Michael's site before posting. My Google searches were too narrow so missed reference to them. Found some other references by searching for Aufklärungsgruppe Fleischmann instead of NAGr Fleischmann..... So constituent units, or elements of, included 7(H)./LG 2; 1(H)./10; 3(H)./12; 6(H)./13 and 3(F)./31 s/b 3(H)./31 (renamed as such in Jan 1942, see Holm, also referenced in Rosch). In addition references to airfields at Golubinskaya (LimF) and Morosovskaya (LdeZ). Morosovskaya is mentioned under 1(H)./10 for Dec 1942 - but most of the other units do not have known bases for this period.

Re: NAGr Fleischmann
Also noted in Rosch (Luftwaffe Codes, Markings and Units 1939-45) is an indication that NAGr Fleischmann had 3 constituent staffels assigned all formed with the stab in Dec 1942 but information is sketchy.
Against the unit code 6T Rosch has two aircraft recorded BF 110E-3 6T+FA and He 59 (!) 6T+CK - suggest that the last is either a different use of the unit code 6T or a typo somewhere in the records.
