Re: Memorial card questions

Hallo Mike,

without having seen the original cards there must be several typos making it difficult to verify the persons:

Gottfied = Gottfried?
Jozef = Josef?
Jackob = Jakob?
bracl = Bratzl?

This prevents one person being listed twice oder three times, each time in different writings...

It is horrible e.g. to find out crash places when one letter of the location is written wrong, thus placing it from the north of Germany to Austria or what else...

Regards

Fran

Hello Rick,

I think that your question isn't answered.
My translation in this case is:

Gerhard Finke

Ostern

Maybe killed on ground, because not in aircraft loss NVMs.

Re: Memorial card questions

The Schwabacher script reads as:

Obergefreiter Josef Brack
* 15.Mai 1921 in Schwifting (near Landsberg a Lech, Upper Bavaria)
+ 10.Nov 1943 in Jeserischtsche (Yezyaryshcha near Vitebsk,Belarus)

Obergefreiter Gottfried Hofmeister
Maurersohn von Pielweichs (neighbourhood of Plattling, Lower Bavaria)

Hope this helps

Roland
