II/KG1 10.10.1940
Hi,
on 10th October 1940 we have the following loss: II/KG1, Heinkel He111H-2 (2754). Sortie to England. Mechanical failure and crashed near Maarten? Uffz. Erich Linke killed. Aircraft V4+EW a write-off. The VDK have an Uffz. Erich Linke *11.01.1916, + 25.11.1940, buried at Aalborg, Denmark, Block 35, Grab 13. Can anyone confirm if Maarten is in Denmark as I've not been able to locate the place, and is this the same Uffz. Linke, whom presumably died of injuries the following month? Steve

Re: II/KG1 10.10.1940
There is a Sint Maarten in Holland in the municipality of Schagen, and lies about 15 km north of Alkmaar. Does this fit?

Re: II/KG1 10.10.1940
Aalborg is quite a distance from where II./KG 1 was based. Linke is a common name & if he had been mortally injured the loss report would mention this. 2 different people I think perhaps he was buried privately hence no VDK record. Matti will know

Not the same guy. Different DOB and loss date.
