Sgt Thomas Henry Sutton - 35 Squadron

Sgt Thomas Henry Sutton of 35 Squadron was killed when his Halifax HR878 came down near Kuinre, a small town North West of Zwolle. Thomas was born in Liverpool in 1922.

Can anyone tell me any more about him or the crew of HR878?

If you can read French, or use an online translator, here is the evasion fiche (via Comete network) of one of the survivors of the crew:

http://www.cometeline.org/fiche175.html

It lists the whole crew, among other things.

Internet sources agree that this Halifax was shot down by the most successful German nightfighter pilot, Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer.

Hello,

It was indeed a victory of Schnaufer - his 23th - his crew at the time was Heinz Bärwolf and Wilhelm Gänsler.
Attached are two photos of the crashsite, as found in the personal photoalbum of Schnaufer. On the back they had a paper attached from the warcorrespondent which confirmed this.
Regards,

Wim
